Confidence gained from real-world experience
The best way to teach skills and maintain engagement is through experiential learning. Engineering Up provides exactly that: fun, individualized, hands-on projects using real engineering tools. Students are guided to solve undefined problems and discover unique solutions, like real engineers. This results in newfound confidence and independence that traditional classroom approaches can’t match.
Build for the Future
Engineering Up is designed for students to leverage their experience into something bigger.
The deliverables that students complete help students apply to internships, jobs, scholarships, and colleges.
Experiences shared and relationships built with staff allows students to find opportunities and request personal references.

Parker M. (School of the Arts ‘24, RIT class of ‘29)
“Ever since I was young I always knew I wanted to be an engineer and Engineering Up helped me so much to make my dream come true. Through teaching me how to be more creative, how to code, and how to work together with people on projects, Engineering UP has given me so much more knowledge on what it means to be an engineer than anything else in my life.”
Xavier H. (East HS class of ‘23, RIT class of ‘28)
“I love building things, and Engineering Up gave me more experience with what I wanted to build. Now that I’m in college at RIT, I’m already familiar with some of the stuff I see in classes from my Engineering Up project. I would recommend this program to anyone that loves to build or program and plans to go into engineering or technology.”
Komali M. (East HS class of ‘24, University of Rochester class of ‘28)
“During the Engineering Up program, I learned how to code and work with electronics. The program helped introduce me to these fields by having hands-on work with my project. Through the program I was able to achieve some experience which helped me to get into college. With the help of Engineering Up, I received a full ride scholarship to the University of Rochester.”
